The problem of sex trafficking is one that we can no longer ignore. Across our communities, women and girls are being exploited to sell their bodies for sex just because of a vulnerability and a high demand for the purchase of sex.
Many of these exploited individuals are isolated, sometimes living in brothels or places with limited outside contact, and a vast majority are unaware of the resources available to them if they chose to leave.
That’s why we go to various locations where commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking take place: massage parlors, streets where prostitution is common, strip clubs, hotels/motels, truck stops, cantina bars, and via websites through a phone bank. We go with the intention of building a relationship, demonstrating the love of Jesus, and empowering an individual through prayer, resources, and a way out of the sex industry.
When you join Elijah Rising on Intervention, you have two options to participate, and both are critical roles. We have teams that go and reach out, and we have a team dedicated to prayer and intercession throughout the night. You can choose which team you would like to participate in unless an outreach team is at capacity. We provide the training, and you will be working with a team which is led by an experienced leader.
We are always asked the question, “Is Intervention dangerous?” We use best practices provided to us by law enforcement, and we never go intending to cause trouble or argue, we only go to demonstrate compassion and love.
