An Elijah Rising-sponsored symposium featuring Dr. Melissa Farley

Elijah Rising is calling all who fight for justice to enlarge the scope of the abolition movement to include all forms of sexual exploitation: prostitution, pornography, webcam sex, rape culture, and every facet of the commercial sex industry.

On camera paid sex (pornography) and off camera paid sex (prostitution) are intricately linked. This reality is well known among those with experience in the industry. For our efforts to truly make a difference, we must oppose all institutional violence, objectification, and exploitation of women, both on and off screen.

In this provocative symposium, Dr. Melissa Farley, the country’s leading prostitution researcher, will offer reflections on these questions from her more than 20 years of research and advocacy. Exodus Cry’s policy and public affairs manager, Laila Mickelwait, will contribute to the conversation from her extensive analysis of the effects of pornography.
